{I WONDER IF THIS EXCUSE WOULD HAVE WORKED BACK WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER ? ? ?}
VALPARAISO, Ind. - A teenager charged with driving 142 mph along a four-lane divided highway said he was speeding home so his parents wouldn't be mad at him for being late, police said.

Brandon D. Raap, 16, faces speeding and misdemeanor reckless driving charges and could have his license suspended, police said.
Porter County sheriff's deputies stopped Raap along a rural stretch of U.S. 30 at 12:40 a.m. Saturday after a radar gun clocked his 2004 Subaru Impreza going almost 90 mph faster than the posted 55 mph limit, police said.
It might be the fastest speed ever recorded on the northwestern Indiana county's roads, said Porter County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tim Emmons.
"Most people's cars won't go that fast," he said.

Ketchup in the Bottle !

A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup to come out of the jar.
During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone.
"It's the minister, Mommy," the child said to her mother.
Then she added, "Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now.
She's hitting the bottle."

STOLEN CHRISTMAS
Twas the month before Christmas when all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand.
Why the PC Police had taken away
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say,
December 25th is just a "Holiday ".
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit,
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were taking the red kettles down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, Pelosi, on Kerry, on Clinton !
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matters.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

WMU accepts invite to first International Bowl

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan has accepted the first invitation to play in the inaugural International Bowl, to be held Jan. 6 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
The 2007 International Bowl will be the first bowl game played outside the United States since the 1937 Bacardi Bowl in Havana, the school said Tuesday in announcing it had accepted the invitation. It will feature teams from the Mid-American Conference and the Big East Conference.
A Big East opponent had not yet been selected to face the Broncos, who completed their regular season with an 8-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the MAC. They finished second in the conference’s West Division, behind Central Michigan.
Western Michigan boasts the sixth-best rushing defense among NCAA Division I-A schools, limiting opponents to 71.9 yards per game on the ground. The team also leads all big schools in interceptions with 22.
The Broncos will be making their first bowl game appearance since the 1988 California Bowl.
