Spoon Parable

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, "Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like. "

The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the
doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew in which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back
into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly
the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the
large pot of stew in which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, "I don't understand."
It is simple" said the Lord, "it requires but one skill. You
see, they have learned to feed each other. While the greedy
think only of themselves. "A friend is someone who reaches for your hand, and touches your heart."

"People say true friends must always hold hands, but true
friends don't need to hold hands because they know the other hand will always be there...."

Thank you for your friendship in my life .. pass it on!

Wolverine Conference Football 9/22/06 Picks

This week I picked 3 out of 5 games correct. The most important game was the Comstock vs Dowagiac game that I predicted last time. Comstock has showed alot of dertermination this year. If they keep playing like thay have been they could find themselves in Detroit playing for the State Title. Allegan pulled out a big surprising victory over Plainwell. Comstock continues their season as they travel to South Haven. With a victory down by the lake shore in South Haven it would give Comstock an automatic bid into the play-offs. As you now know the routine I will post all the score below. Stay tuned .............

ALLEGAN 36 vs Plainwell 7

COMSTOCK 34 vs Dowagiac 20

OTSEGO 0 vs Three Rivers 41

Paw Paw 15 vs SOUTH HAVEN 14

VICKSBURG 14 vs Richland Gull Lake 21

U of M -vs- U of W Weekend Report.

I don't even know where to begin and start..... My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Michigan vs Wisconsin game. We headed up to Ann Arbor on Friday and did some shopping and scoped out the Michigan campus. We were waiting for my Uncle Garry (U of M police officer) to escort the Michigan team to the Hotel, in the meantime we met the equipment managers of Wisconsin. They took us in the Wisconsin locker room and showed us around and talked to us for a bit. Then my Uncle Garry took us out on the Michigan Field and let us gaze at the Stadium and take pictures on the "M" in the middle of the field. We stayed at his house Friday night in Adrian, MI and returned to Ann Arbor for the Game on Saturday. What a great game it was. We had prime time seats being only 12 rows up in the North End Zone. I have been to a couple games at Michigan Stadium and these seats were by far the best. My wife and I even though "We Are A HOUSE.....DIVIDED" when it comes to these two teams had a blast. Everytime our team scored we would razzle each other a little bit. The Final Score was Michigan 27 and Wisconsin 13. Believe it or not is seemed to be a close game especially with Wisconsin trying to make a come back at the end of the game. The rain held off literally until the clock ticked 00:00. On our way back to Adrian from the game it poured.... I want to give a special thanks to Dr. Starks for making the tickets available. My Uncle Garry and Aunt Val for so nice to take us in for the weekend and for watching Bryce. We had a wonderful time and hope to do it all over again next year.

MY HERO ! ! !

There are heroes who walk among us
never looking for glory or praise
They don't seek recognition
for their thoughtful, caring ways.
Living lives of deep commitment
providing for those they hold dear
Steadfast with a quiet strength
through times of laughter and tears.
You are a person like that to me
The most selfless man by far
So UNCLE GARRY, I'd like to thank you
For being the HERO that you are.

Duane 'Dog' Chapman is currently out on bail

Duane Chapman is out on bail and A&E has wasting no time scheduling a "Dog: The Bounty Hunter" special covering the bounty hunter's recent arrest.

On Tuesday (Sept. 19) night at 10 p.m. ET, A&E will air "Dog: The Family Speaks," an hour-long special that the cable network says will feature "exclusive interviews offering a first hand account of the events leading to Dog, Leland and Tim's dramatic arrest stemming from their heroic capture of convicted rapist Andrew Luster in Mexico more than three years ago."

Duane Chapman, son Leland Chapman and unrelated fellow bounty hunter Tim Chapman were arrested on kidnapping charges last Thursday morning in Hawaii.

As A&E said, the charges against the Chapmans date back to 2003 when the bounty hunters went down to Mexico to capture Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was on the run for several months evading multiple counts of rape. Mexican authorities wanted Luster handed over to them, denied Chapman and his gang permission to leave the country, declared them fugitives from justice and tried to get them extradited to Mexico for sentencing.

Chapman's arrest last week came as he was shooting the fourth season of the wildly popular reality show focusing on Dog and his family. He posted $300,000 bail over the weekend, but he's still awaiting extradition to Mexico.

Good Joke ! ! !

A blonde, wanting to earn some extra money, decided to hire herself out as a "handy-woman" and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house, and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do.

"Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch," he said."How
much will you charge me?"

The blonde quickly responded,"How about $50?" The man agreed and told her that the paint and everything she would need was in the garage.

The man's wife, hearing the conversation, asked her husband,"does she realize that our porch goes all the way around the house?"

"That's a bit cynical,isn't it?"he responded.

"You're right," she said. "I guess I'm starting to believe all those
'dumb blonde' jokes we've been getting by e-mail lately."

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.
"You're finished already?" the husband asked.

"Yes," the blonde replied, "and I had paint left over, so I gave it two
coats." Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $50 and
handed it to her.

"And by the way", the blonde added, "it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus."

What is happening to our younger generation kids? Last Friday my wife and I attended the Comstock vs Paw Paw football game @ Paw Paw. Admission was $5.00 which is up in cost from years past. We payed our admission and took our seats in the visitor section next to a couple of senior citizens. The kick off came and went and all the students in the bleachers were standing. I thought that after the first "TOUCHDOWN" that the students would sit down so everyone could see. Well wrong I was in thinking such a thought. These kids stood up the entire time leaving the majority of the spectators viewing their rear-ends through-out the entire game. I politely asked the students if they would sit down so the rest of us could see the game action as did the senior citizens who were sitting next to us. These kid absolutely ingored anyone's and everyone's request and stood the entire game. They even went so far as to practically push spectators further down the bleachers to make room for other fellow students. I know a couple of us attempted to talk to the Comstock Athletic Director Fred Smith and explain the situation and he was just as "Disrespectful" as his students were. I guess that is were you can add "Attitude reflects Leadership".

My family decided that we were going to get the final word and we went and sat on the Home Teams side and watched the entire 2nd half of the game with a great group of Paw Paw fans. I give the Paw Paw fans "RESPECT" for accepting me as a Comstock Alumni to sit amongst them and cheer on my team with-out any rift/raft or ill feelings. My heart goes out to those two lovely senior citizens that stood their ground and sat amongst the "DISRESPECTFUL" students for the entire game. I know they probably didn't like it but, they were not going to give in.

After the game we stopped at Pizza Hut and once again encountered "Students" being so disrespectful to the staff and management team. They act like they are in their own little world and own and run anything and everything. I just don't understand why our younger generation feel the need to act the way they do. They park in handicapped parking, cut in line, destruct other peoples property.....ect..ect. I just don't understand. I feel it is vitally important for me to raise my son teaching him the morals of "RESPECT". How to address people with Yes Sir and Yes Ma'm, Please and Thank-you, your Welcome. How to hold the door for others, Thinking of others first. I feel that if I don't teach my son these types of things than myself as a parent have failed. I will have failed my son and society.

Rejected Greeting Card "Sayings"

When you care enough to send the very best. Or not. A Friend of mine forwarded
this odd collection of Cards that DIDN'T quite make it into production. Here
are just a few, but I'm wondering if some of YOU might try your hand at it
and send in your "rejected" messages.

*******************************

Looking back over the years
that we've been together,
I can't help but wonder...

"What in the world was I thinking?"

***********************************

My tire was thumping.
I thought it was flat
When I looked at the tire...

I noticed your cat.
Sorry!

***********************************

Heard your wife left you,
How upset you must be.
But don't fret about it...

She moved in with me.

************************************

Congratulations on your wedding day!

Too bad no one likes your husband.

*************************************

How could two people as beautiful as you

Have such an ugly baby?

**************************************

I've always wanted to have
someone to hold,
someone to love.
After having met you ..

I've changed my mind.

**************************************

As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am...

That you're not here to ruin it for me.

Before you go...

Would you like to take this knife out of my back?

You'll probably need it again.

These are for Real ! ! !

Well let me just say the reality just set in a couple a days ago when I actually had these tickets in hand. My wife and I are going to the Michigan vs Wisconsin game and the only thing stopping me is if the Lord takes me home to glory first. I just can't wait to step foot in THE BIG HOUSE AGAIN...... a place where 110,000+ people live on a given Saturday afternoon. And I have the keys two get in the door.......(two of them pictured up above.) This place is my Home away from Home ! ! So if your watching the game keep your eye out for me..... You can't miss the "BIG GUY" sitting 12 rows up in the endzone when the Wolverines score all them "TOUCHDOWNS" ! ! ! Can't you just feel the LOVE ! !

Thought For The Day ! ! !

"When you come to the place where GOD is all you have, you will find that GOD is
all you need."

But then this thought must be added: "GOD never will be all you need until GOD
is all you have."

We only need GOD on two occasions: When things aren't going well and when things
are going well.

Vicksburg's Jordan Buckallew breaks away from Dowagiac's David Sayre left, and DeShaun Baylock to score in the first quarter. Vicksburg hosted Dowagiac in their home opener at their newly built stadium Friday.

Stay Tuned...... I will post the scores below with the Home Teams in Caps.

VICKSBURG 14 vs Dowagiac 36

Three Rivers 31 vs PLAINWELL 7

We Remember 9/11 5th Anniversary

A flag of honor, a flag for reflection
It stands for us all uniting this nation.
It will keep in our minds this tragic day,
Memories of such heroic acts shall not go away.

As we look on this flag of cloth and thread,
A field of bright red for the blood that was shed.
Not just on this day of lasting memories,
But for lives that were given throught history.

Two towers of strength that rose up so high,
Reaching for dreams, they stretched to the sky.
They lay now in ruin at the hands of hate,
Great symbols of our nation have met this fate.

Out nation's military housed in a fortress of steel;
We're reminded this day that war is so real.
Hitting the heart of our power and might,
Rise up America, this terror we must fight!
Stars that shine on a field of bright blue,
Remind us of heroes with hearts so true.
An ordinary day, it had started out to be,
Soon their lives would be given for you and me.

A circle is drawn to stand for our nation's unity,
A nation coming together through such tragedy.
A reminder is given for all of America to see,
That our freedom is never really free.

"God Bless America" is written in white,
Make this your prayer each and every night.
God is always with us, He knows our needs
Bring America back to God, should be our decree.

Much was given, many were lost on this day,
A man of terror tried to take our spirit away.
Do not let our new found spirit and unity fade,
As you look on this flag, remember this day ..

9 - 11 - 2001

THIS IS AMERICA

I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. No where did they sing it in Italian, Japanese, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German, Portuguese, Greek, French, or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close.

Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY - IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP ---- please pass this along~ I am not against immigration -- Just come through like everyone else. Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head, have a job, pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

PART OF THE PROBLEM
Think about this: If you don't want to share this for fear of offending someone-----YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM ! Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice?????? Think about it! All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.

This says it all! This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America . Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans.....we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Greek, Polish, Italian, French, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles............. founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because God is part of our culture. If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to anotherpart of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping.......about our flag......our pledge......our national motto.......or our way of life...I highly encourage you to take advantageof one other Great American Freedom.... THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

Michigan Youth Workers Conference

This weekend our church sent my wife and I to the Michigan Youth Workers Conference in Flint, Michigan. Rather than making the 2 1/2 hour trip the morning of the Conference we decided to splurge a little and stay in a hotel. We had a wonderful couple in our church take Bryce for the weekend and my wife and I actually had some quality time alone. This was a very pleasant time to be together and just kick back and relax. We stayed at the Comfort Inn and had the luxury of a King Size bed, Hot Tub, Indoor Pool, Continential Breakfast (Waffles, Bagels, Doughnuts, Cereal, Toast, Muffins, Hard Boiled Eggs, Fruit, Milk, Orange Juice, and Coffee) We had a spread to choose from with as much as we wanted. It was just a nice relaxing time to get away for a chance and know that we were not going to have to get up extra early to make that 2 1/2 hour drive to the Conference. It only took us 10 minutes including a quick stop at Rite Aide for some cold medicine.

After we settled in our room at the Comfort Inn my wife and I trotted across the lawn to Fuddruckers "The World's Greatest Hamburgers". I remember bragging to her about this place about 10 years ago. We finally took a journey up to Grand Rapids to eat there only to find that they have closed. Many years have went by and now here we are looking for a place to eat on the way to the hotel and what just happens to be right next door? "Fuddruckers" ! ! ! We were both so excited to eat at Fuddruckers. I was tempted to go out on a limb to eat the 1 pound burger but, I settled for the 2/3 pounder instead along with fries and a cookie. My wife enjoyed a delicous 1/3 pound burger with onion rings. We decided that we are going to make this an annual stop when we come up for future Michigan Youth Workers Conferences. If you have never been there.....(Fuddruckers that is) You have to check it out... What a place to grab a make your own burger.

My wife and I had a great time at this years 3rd "Michigan Youth Workers Conference" at Faith Baptist Church of Davison,Michigan. This years general speaker was Evangelist Morris Gleisner who preached 3 rock solid sermons. He spoke on " The Heart of the Father" and illustrated with the father in the story of the "Lost Son" from the book of Luke chapter 15. Then in the 2nd session he spoke from Nehemiah talking about having a "Compassion and Concern for People", and lastly he spoke from the book of Matthew talking about "You are the Light of the World". These were very good sermons that were straight to the point and from the heart. It was a pleaser to hear Dr. Morris Gleisner speak and give us great truths from God's Word. In between the General Sessions we had several great "Break Out Sessions" with a great group of men and women teaching on different various topics. Some of the sessions were *The Pastor/Youth Pastor Relationship, * Ministering Though Physically Hindered: Serving In Spite of Sickness, * Cautioning the Church when Measuring Potential, and * Working with the Unchurched Teens are just a few of the topics to name. This was a very useful tool for us to take from these teachers. I can honestly say I walked away feeling refreshed and more than ready to serve.

BUFFET????

Tonight I was talking to 2 of the deacons from my church. One of the deacons is pretty laid back and not very outspoken but..... the other is a jokester and loves to tell a line or two every chance he can get. Well tonight the topic happened to be about what the meaning of "BUFFET" stands for. Please no one take offense to this. I personally am a huge fan of Buffet's especially if it's Ryan's Steakhouse or the famous Old Country Buffet (a.k.a. OCB ) I know I would fit right in to this catagory and I am not ashamed to admit it.....(LOL = Laugh Out Loud )

Here Is What "BUFFET" stands for ! ! !

"DOG" The Bounty Hunter

Watch "DOG" The Bounty Hunter on A&E Tuesday Night at 8p-9p EST.

You have heard the name. Now meet the legend as Duane "Dog" Chapman lets you enter his world.

This exciting series follows the real-life exploits of an expert bounty hunter. Each episode features Dog and his posse risking their necks while trying to bring in fugitives from the law. Capturing fugitives is no easy task, but Dog is a master at it. He employs strength, cunning, and the power of persuasion to catch his prey.

His work takes him into some rough spots—seedy hotels, drug dens, and tough neighborhoods. No matter where he goes, Dog tries to help out people when he can, when they'll listen. He's a big believer in second chances, having turned his own life around. After serving time in a Texas penitentiary, Dog vowed to redeem himself by operating on the right side of the law. It is his own criminal past that inspires him to help the fugitives he hunts down to go straight. Dog strongly believes in the American judicial system, and he shows mercy to everyone he can.

No matter how much sympathy he has for his prey, Dog has to get the job done. And no mission could be completed without the assistance of his posse. For Dog, hunting fugitives is a family affair. His wife and business partner, Beth, helps out every step of the way, supporting Dog in the field, handling most of the paperwork, and checking up on leads, warrants, and fugitive addresses. His sons, Leland and Duane Lee, are also important members of Dog's crew. While not a relative, Tim Chapman is another key part of the posse and is considered by Dog to be a "blood brother." At the end of the day, as Dog says, "We're family. That's what counts."

Here are 4 pictures of (European) semi-trucks whose trailers are decorated to look like the sides are missing and the products they are hauling are painted on the sides and back.

The first one is of a bottle of beer and looks so real, like it is coming out the side of the trailer.

The second is of canvas tote bag.

The third is of Pepsi cases and they are all stacked on the ceiling, and the bottom of the trailer is empty.

The last one is for Pringles-Hot & Spicy. The "inside" of the trailer has the appearance of having been through a fire.

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Dies 9/4/06

This is a sad day for those who loved to watch Steve Irwin. I absolutely loved to watch his Crocodile Hunting expertise. He was so amusing to watch as he would wrestle and toy with the wild life from Australia. He will be remembered for his enthusiastic personality and his poise to reach his fans.

MEDIA STATEMENT:

At 11am today, 4 September 2006, Steve Irwin was fatally wounded by a stingray barb to his heart while filming a sequence on Batt Reef off Port Douglas for a new TV series.

Emergency services were called from Cairns Rescue Base and met Croc One, Steve’s rescue vessel, at Low Isle on the Great Barrier Reef.
The Croc One crew performed constant CPR during the thirty-minute dash to Low Isle, but Steve was pronounced deceased at 12 noon by Queensland Ambulance Services personnel.

His producer and closest friend, John Stainton said on Croc One today,
“The world has lost a great wildlife icon, a passionate conservationist and one of the proudest dads on the planet. He died doing what he loves best and left this world in a happy and peaceful state of mind. Steve would have said, ‘Crocs Rule!’”
